Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar was an American and British sitar artist. She was also the first and youngest woman to win an award from the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Sitar Shankar, the Indian young sitar singer. She is Ravi Shankar's student as well as his daughter of Ravi Shankar. Born in London in 1982. She spent her early years shuttling back and forth to London as well as New Delhi. Her debut concert was on stage in New Delhi at the tender 13 years old. Then she relocated to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. While she's still young Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording. Since quite some time, she performs regularly alongside her father. She released her first self-titled album Anourag in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. Her career on stage is broad as she's appeared in all of the biggest venues in the world. Anoushka Shakar's work is not only limited to music. In 2002, she released the book Bapi The Love of My Live this is a pictorial biography which gives a special respect to her dad Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she starred on Dance Like a Man as an actress and Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka is still progressing on her path and there will be many other things to be expected from this talented woman. Anoushka was a frequent traveler and spent lots of time between London and Delhi during her young years. After that, she moved to California for high school. When she was nine years old, she began studying music under her father. She made her debut with the sitar 4 years later at his 75th birthday celebration in Delhi. Anoushka's father toured around the globe with her, and she was able to gain many new opportunities. While still at her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD music festival. To honor her position as one of the top musicians in Asian Arts, she was presented with the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
